I know they are meant for the 930 but why not the standard flairs?
I'm thinking of ordering them. It's only a $40 hit.

You can actually get smaller "carrera" stone guards that fit the narrow body cars way better. The larger "turbo" stone guards look bad on narrow body cars.

Default Wheel and Tire - Lowering

The previous owner of my 88 Carrera found a set of 9J X 16 Fuchs alloys and installed them on the rear then moved the 7j X 16s to the front. Only problem is that I am getting tire rub on the inner fender edge when I have a full tank of fuel and hit a dip or a bump. I know some folks roll the inner fender edges but does anyone have other ideas? The car originally had 6j X 16s on front. Once I have this resolved I want to lower the car to Euro spec.

By any chance did the previous owner move the wheels to the front with the 225/50 tires? The fronts need to be 205/55.

I think that's a great question. The 88 is at Mayo Performance right now and I will check to see the actual tire size when I pick it up on Thursday. That would explain why there is a rubbing issue when other owners have done the same swap and have not reported it. I'll post a comment when I find out. Thanks!

Yes to lowering- this is at Euro height on mine. I like clean look without graphics and stone guards.

Mark,
Are you suggesting that the 7" wheels up front should be shod with 205/55s? FWIW, I've had the 7s up front with 225/50s without issue lowered ...though to be fair, the prev owner did have the lips rolled.

also ihave found variations within tires themselves that cause this also . , some have a stiffer sidewall and do not collapse. others are softer,

It was recommended to me years ago to put my 205's on the 7's on the front. I have not had my fenders rolled and they hit now and then when I am very aggressive. I believe I have standard ride height on a 83SC. At least in my case 225's on the front would not work especially lowered. Just what I have found but think 225's would look better. The 205 actually fit the 7" rims better than 6" IMHO

The only years there was a different ride height spec for US vs RoW was '75-83, The cars do rend to look much better down in the 143 to 160 range

Edward,

i thought that was the case, but I could be wrong. It just seemed odd that 7’s in front would rub without lowering, so I was trying to think outside the box.

Thanks, guys! Since my fenders were rolled by the PO, I have no way of knowing what the clearance would have been with 225s on 7x16s. So I thought that combo was normal/workable because it works on mine. Like many things, I guess it really depends on the specific car and specific height. Thanks for the clarification.
