Default New Mechanic Needed

Greetings and Salutations

we finally have a porsche in the family, its a 944 track car was purchased for use at the motorsports ranch outside of Fort Worth, TX. LOVE the car, love the track. my father and i are having a hard time wiping the stupid grins off our mugs.

we are looking for a reputable porsche mechanic in the Ft. Worth area, maybe NE Tarrant county or even Denton. our current mechanic is a generalist and we would feel better with a specialist. addidtionally, i hope to purchase a 3.2 sometime this year, and will need a PPI done by a trustworthy guy before any more hard cash is spent.

any recommendations???

tx

I know Houston is kind of far but you may try contacting Rob Baylor at EP Tuning and he might know somebody in your area. He can be reached by phone at 281-412-3443.
Also, don't forget that we have a Motorsports Ranch down here as well. You should come down for DE. It's a great facility.
Good luck.

I just got off the phone with Ed Mayo, who has a shop in Euless (Mayo Performance), which is in Tarrant County. He confirmed that he does work on 944's. His number is 817-540-4939. Also in the same area is Al Zim who owns Zim's Autotechnik in Bedford at 1-800-356-2964. Address is 1804 Reliance Parkway, Bedford TX 76021. If you don't belong to the Porsche Club of America, you might think about joining. There's a lot of expertise in the DFW area on Porsche's ready to provide help and expertise on technical issues.

Default Thanks!

Ron -

i am a PCA member, but haven't yet been to an event/met other members in town yet to inquire about mechanics. i see that the first DE event is in Feb @ motorsports ranch, and my father and i plan on being there.

i really appreciate you taking the time to help me out, you guys are quick to respond and help a n00b that's got no street cred....at least yet.

i will check out your recommendations.

The website address for Motorsport Ranch Houston is msrhouston.com.
It just opened. The calender isn't up for next year but I hear there is a DE planned for early in the year.

Congratulations on your "new" Porsche !
I suggest you contact Michael Wingfield there in Dallas, He is in the Porsche Club
there and extremly knowledgeable on the 944, he is one of the best 944 drivers on the
track. There is a DE down in College Station at Texas World Speedway next month,
it might be this weekend, check Houston PCA web site. That would be worth the drive
to see what goes on there and meet some people. Motorsport Ranch is one of my
favorite tracks, really pretty place, I'll be glad when they get the addition finished.
Good Luck
Chuck

txhoosier, if you belong to PCA and the Maverick Region (DFW area), there are a lot of guys who can help you. They have been in the same position that you are in. We all started knowing very little, but over time became more educated. It's taken me almost 39 years and 18 Porsche's to even feel qualiified to pass on information. Additionally, many Porsche Club members will become lifelong acquaintances. I recommend going to monthly meetings and get a dialogue going with 944 guys.

Good Luck
