Default Bilstein sports on all four corners or rear only?

I planned to order from shox.com and spoke with a salesperson. For my car there is heavy duty or the sport package. However per him the sport is rear only with the front shocks being the standard OEM.

Is this a normal setup for the sport arrangement? Should sport shocks go on all four corners?

Also the most blessed of holiday seasons to all.

Reg: Much has been said about the HD front, Sport rear combo, and many favor it. I don't care for it on 911s with stock suspension, either at stock or Euro ride height. I had the Sport rears in my '82 SC and replaced them with HD rears. I found that the car was unusually nervous at apex transition, and felt disconnected under heavy braking for fast corners. Switching back to HDs cured both problems. In contrast I ran Sport Bilsteins on my PCA Club Race '81 SC and loved them. The suspension in that car was highly modified (monoballs, T-bars, S-bars, etc.) and reacted well to small changes in sway bar adjustment, camber, etc. This is only one opinion, I'm sure that others will be offered. Whatever you do, enjoy the car!

Thank you sir,

Sounds like HD's all around for me. I do limited track events and with an unmodified vehicle the sports might be the wrong choice.

HD's are good; I have them all round and I drive pretty hard-**** in the hills. I like them a lot.
I feel the Sports would be too harsh and on a choppy road, the car would be too skittish. You want to soak up the bumps, not fly off them....especially in a corner.

I run 21/27 T-bars, Welt bushings, S-03s, and HD x 4.

Plenty of control and a good feel when the tires are about to start loosing its grip in S's.

Reg,

If you plan on going to heavier torsion bars in the near future, I'd go with the Sports. But if you don't see that happening any time soon, I'd definitely go with HDs with stock t-bars. FWIW, the previous owner of my SC had Bilstein Sports with the stock t-bars and while not "objectionable," I found it a much "match" when I replaced the t-bars with 22/28s. Hope this helps.

I have the Sports on all 4 corners of my Carrera. I also have 22/28MM t-bars. No complaints and the car handles great on the track.

"Racing" and "best" are extremely subjective terms!
Most people who want good response on the street will probably do o.k. with the Bilstein HDs. Bilstein is a long-time reputable company.
Anything stiffer than HD's for the non-track crowd might make the car undrivable over rough/wavy roads.

The "Yellow-bird" which is featured in some videos doing som sensational high speed 4-wheel drifts on the Neurbergring circuit has a relatively soft suspension, but very stiff torsional bars.
