Is anyone aware of a seat belt upgrade kit for the rear seats in a 911. I would like to be able to safely belt in my 4 y/o son. The original belts are too old and too difficult to use.
A shoulder belt (three point) would be prefered over the standard lap belt (two point) arrangement.
Thanks in advance!

I don't believe there is an upgrade. You can likely get a much newer factory set off ebay, here or pelican - most are barely used, they don't even get much exposure back there, esp if the seatbacks are left down & they came out of a Coupe. A 3 point belt for the rear would be a non-factory, custom approach. I'd go to a race fabrication shop w/ Porsche experience for a consultation (& they may have some fresh take-offs laying around).
I would select a child seat that utilizes the factory's 2 point belt, being sure it is quite snug & pulls at the center of mass of the seat w/ your child in place. If space is a an issue, one might consider removing the seatback. Actually, if it were me, I would place my child in the frt pass. seat, slid back furthest from the dash.
best of luck - it is important that they enjoy Porsches from the start.

Marc, I think (hope!) mb911 is refering to pep (www.peparts.com) & not Pep Boys. Professionally Engineered Products knows Porsche seat belts...

You'll need to reinforce the top anchor by welding in some additional support. Do a search in the Pelican Parts archives -- this has been discussed extensively with very good pictoral documentation. 84+ newer cars already had the reinforced top anchor. Older cars like yours did not.
A very worthwhile upgrade -- I did it a couple of years ago on my '85.

I put them in from Pep. They worked great. My kids now love driving in my car - well, they always did. Now I can just get all 3 of them in the car at once. Of course we have to leave mom at home.
I did not weld in any additional structure. I did however use a pretty large backing plate that actually connects between the two. But, I mounted mine in the center, not the sides.
