Default Headlamp ****

Hello, all.

I am the guy who recently broke his headlamp switch trying to remove it from the dash. Well, I found a nice inexpensive one on ebay and placed it in the dash yesterday. Now my low beams, high beams, and turn signals work properly. My only snafu is with the rubber pull ****. When I tighten it on the shaft of the switch, it finds a definite stop. However, when I pull on it to turn the lights on or if I twist the **** to brighten/dim the dash lights, the rubber **** (and its inner nut) loosen and start to back off the shaft. Is there an easy fix to this? Maybe a small amount of adhesive on the threads?

Oh, and I was just wondering, I sent in payment for membership about a week ago. Will I be notified in some way of formal membership status? Just curious.

Thanks.

Cowhorn, it will take a couple of weeks or more, but you should get a membership card in the mail with your name and membership number on it.

Loc-tite, superglue or a locking washer.

RTV is a term used in the auto and aerospace field. It is like a silicone compound that dries and protects and seals. Almost the same as a silicone caulk you might use on your house when caulking windows, only a little more durable. Most RTV compounds are oil and solvent resistant, depending on what type you buy. Any auto supply should have some. Next time you are in an auto supply, look in the sealant, super glue, permatex gasket section. Lot's of good stuff, but a lot you may never need. I think Loctite is there also.

RTV - Room Temperature Vulcanization
RTR- Room Temperature Romulanization
RTK - Room Temperature Klingonization
