Default QUESTIONS WHALE TAIL REMOVAL? and 911 FINANCING

im new to this forum, this is definately the best porsche board, thank you all for your valuable info , seeing peter zimmermann on the board was a great suprise since i have read his book. ive read a couple of other 911 buyers guide books but i like peters the best. so anyway thank you all for having me. im currently looking for an 87 to 89 coupe.. a couple things i was wondering was,

what is involved in removing a whale tail??? i prefer the lines of a coupe with no tail. also

financing ? for excellent credit . has anyone used capital one auto finance??? what was your experiance ? rate etc?
any other good finance companies anyone out there has used?

Hi Carrera...Peter Zimmermann's book is the best 911 info resource in the market...I read it back to back three times...the 1987-1989 Carrera is a very good option...besides the 3.2 engine, they also have the G50 tranny...

Capital One has an excellent service...once approved, you'll receive a blank check and you just need to write it to the seller...interest rate depends on your credit score!

Good luck on your search!

Welcome!
Pete is great........................sorry to toot your horn pete, but he has been a great source of info for alot of people for a long time so IMO he can't steer you wrong.

As far as the car 87-89 Carrera's are great cars, but don't discount the 84-86 Carreras either, the hype on the troublesome 915 box, IMO, is overated, if you know how to drive a stick, a 915 is a fine box, just don't try to drag shift either the G50 ot the 915

As far as the tail, if you want to loose the tea tray spoil;er (930) or the weissach tail (SC and Carrera), its easy as changing engine lids, If you're car was originaly optioned with spoilers, buy a used non-tail lid and keep your original incase you decide to sell it. if it is an aftersales add-on, just sell it and you will end up with enough to buy a stock tail and then some..............

Funny story....the original owner of my car removed the original Carrera tail and installed a regular carrera lid because he said it caused him to get bad gas mileage!!!!!! so I have a stock tail and a Carrera tail.........HAHA!

There was a good thread on financing a few months ago. You might want to do a search.

Using home equity loans were mentioned. Maybe that will help when searching.

77,

Just remember the whale tail and chin spoiler are a package deal. Porsche designed them to function together. Not one without the other regardless of what you may hear or what others have Frankensteined.

If it came with both they need to both stay or both leave. Best of luck to you.

As Joey c said. Capitol one is the easiest car loan I have ever gone through, just fill out the online form, and you should hear back from them shortly. ( I got an e mail accepting my application before I could even close out of the site ) check was in my hand 3 days later to buy what ever I wanted, for the lowest rate around.

I know there are other ways to go about securing funding for older cars but capitol one worked perfectly for me...super easyand very little paperwork. and low low interest rates. JMHO
