Default Finding detail on my car's history

I am starting to restore my 74 911S. I have had the car since 1998, and used it for a weekend / fun car, but now it is time to bring it back to its original glory. Anyway, were can I go to find out history on my car? Farfax is only for cars built after 1981. Any ideas? I am looking to find out Original build options, any previouse DMV records, etc.....

Thanks

The Porsche 911 Redbook by Patrick Paternie is a good place to start. It lists all the factory specs and options for each model year.
