Default Wheel fitment

This has probably been asked many times before but I could not quickly find an answer using the search. I have a set off 17" CUPII wheels in 7j and 9j both et 55. Somebody with a 86' carrera (targa) wants to buy them but is not sure if they will fit and neither do I. Will they fit, do you need spacers and what size tire will fit? Hope someone can help me out?

For comparison, 7" Fuchs have a 23mm offset and 9's have a 15mm offset. So you would need spacers front and rear, and with that size difference, longer studs to accomodate the large spacers, or H&R spacers with embedded studs.

Thanks Bill,

I assume it does not really matter whether it is 17" or 16". These offsets are quite different from later models. Although I have seen 3.2' s with cup wheels (maybe replica's with the build in spacers) it seems a lot to fill (1", 1.5"). Do you think it is adviseable to run such large spacers?
