Default Anyone in Victoria know how to do a valve adjustment?

I would like to do my first valve adjustment on my new Carrera but was wondering if anyone that has done it before on their own car had time to assit. I am worried about doing it wong as tight valve = burnt valve. Anyone interested in helping out? I live in Colwood outside of Victoria and would really appreciate the help

Pointman, if you get no support, just do it yourself - about five times in succession. Then, you'll be the guy in BC who knows how to set valves. {btw, most of 'em will be in spec anyway} Best of luck!

Not that bad. Just take your time and recheck your work a couple times...My first one took me about 6 hrs total.

Good luck.

As soon as the snow flies, I will be attempting my first adjustment. I figure if I screw something up I will have the whole winter to get it fixed.

I'm thinking of doing the same (over the winter months)...put er' up on stands.... and have at it. I've bought all of the manuals etc..., purchased my guage and spare blades, gasket covers. The local Pcar dealer wants $1100- (that's if your a PCA member). I found a couple of others in the $400- range...

It may look intimidating but it's really not that hard. You just have to allow plenty of time and not rush through the process. Be careful not to over tighten the valve cover nuts. I broke off a couple of studs the first time I tried this and that was with a torque wrench set at factory recommended torque settings. After doing it 4 times, I was able to adjust the valves on my C2 within 4 hours.
