Default decode this engine number?

Sorry to be such a newbie. I've found conflicting information in the factory manuals and wondered if someone could help me figure out what year engine this is. The serial number is: 6880137.

The previous owner said it was a 1986 930 engine, but I'm suspecting that it is a 1978 930. Any ideas?

Many thanks

Thanks Jerry. I'm rebuilding it and thought I'd better know for sure before I proceeded.

Mike:
6 = 6 cyl.
8 = USA Turbo
8 = 1978
0137 = sequential number
