Post 915 transmission

I recently purchased a '73 targa with 67K miles. The only mechanical problem seems to be a worn syncro going into 2nd gear. It's manageable but annoying. Is this a costly repair? Would it be easier to look for a good transmission and have it installed rather than go through a rebuild? Is the transmission in a '73 a 915? What is the value of a serviceable 915? All replys are appreciated. Thanks Paul

do you know if your car was a 73 1/2 model and does it have cis injection? I believe only the later 73's had a 915 and the rest where the 901. I could be wrong. I try to look it up for you.

Your shift pattern will tell you if it is as 915. Do you have to dogleg to get to first or fifth. 901 has 1st dogleg and 915 has the 5th gear dogleg.

The 915 started on '72. The year of the SISL - Stupid Input Shaft Seal.
Get it rebuilt. It isn't "broken" it is worn - like most every other "good used 915" is.
If you fill in your profile (are you in Sweden or New Hampshire?) you might get more assistance from listers that are local to you.
