Post Hershey PA Vintage and collectors meet.

I posted this mesage on the off topic, but figured it can get more exposure here. Is anyone going to this event on Octber 11th or has any info on it? I would really love to go but have no details about it at all. Thanks.

With a little luck, I'll be there. It's an absolutely phenomenal event -- huge, and you'll see cars you've never seen before. I've been going since '75, when I was 8 years old. I don't know what kind of info you're looking for, but you can go to aaca.org and find a lot of info. Generally, Wednesday through Friday is flee market only (cars, parts, literature), and Saturday is the show (usually around 1800 cars). The Blackhawk Collection also has a display, and there is an auction (Friday I think). The flee market is fully up and running by Thursday morning, and it runs through Saturday, but many vendors pack up early on Saturday and don't have much left anyway.

Thank you for the info! I will be sure to make it there. I was told that Hershey is supposed to be one of the largest gatherings of Vintage cars on the East coast. I have been a fan for a while and always go to Watkins Glen during the Vintage races. I must also ad that your list of cars is great as well.

I thought Hershey was just a summer thing! are you telling me that it's in the fall as well? Holy crap, that's cool. I went to the one in the summer, and although it was a little disappointing (by my and a good many others' standards) I still had a blast.

It is not going to be purely Porsche but vintage cars of all types and ages. I think it will be a much, much larger event.
go to www.aaca.org top find out more about it. O can't wait to go there!

The October Hershey show is the Eastern Division Fall meet of the Antique Automobile Club of America - the show criteria are that cars have to be at least 25 years old and they have to be dead stock (except for race cars, which have to be correct to the condition in which they were originally raced). The AACA has shows all around the country, but Hershey is the largest and most prestigious.

In addition to the show, there is also a "car corrall", which has cars that are for sale - there are no limitations on what can be sold there.

Hershey dwarfs most car shows - there are literally hundreds of cars on display, everything from 1903 curved-dash Olds's, classics from the 1920's and 1930's, 50's Chevys, Fords, Buicks, Cadillacs, etc., factory musclecars from the 1960's and early 1970's, trucks from 1910-1970's, firetrucks, sports cars (i.e., 1950's and 60's Ferraris, Porsches, Maseratis and Jaguars), race cars of every conceivable variety (i.e., Indy cars from the 1940's and 50's, NASCAR racers from the 1950's and 60's, "slingshot" dragsters from the 1960's, factory "super stock" drag cars from the 1960's).

One of the highlights of the show is the "trials" session, which is run on Friday morning- early afternoon at the stadium. AACA rules requires proof that all race cars being shown actually run and drive. This proof is obtained by the owner taking the racecar around the running track in the stadium for a couple of laps.

Since sports cars aren't really the focus, the turnout of Porsches, Ferraris, etc. usually isn't that great in number, but the quality of what people bring is pretty amazing -- I've seen Porsche 356 Carrera speedsters, 1973 911 RS's, Ferrari Daytonas, 275GTB's and 250 California Spyders.

I've been attending the show every year for around 10 years now. As long as it doesn't rain, I couldn't imagine a better way to spend the weekend.
