Post 915 tranny issue with 3rd gear?

My car shifts well into all gears. However, while 1st,2nd, 4th, 5th seem to be "tightly" held in gear, 3rd seems to be loose. I can pull it out of third most of the time without having to push the clutch, where as, the other gears and 3rd as well sometimes, require the clutch to be pushed to release the gear. Now, I don't go trying to shift without the clutch, but my wife drove the car last night and said the car just "comes out of gear in 3rd if you have your hand resting on the shift ****". I checked after and she's right. 9 out of 10 times it just came out of gear with very little force. What's the deal here?

Try replacing all of your shifter bushings, and realigning the coupler. I put a factory short-shift kit in my 84 and that, combined with the bushing replacements, made a huge difference in my car's shifting.
