I've had the same experience with the 915. We had a 912E. It's 915 tranny with 70k miles shifted like a dream. The '79 911 we have now hits a wall from 1st to 2nd sometimes. It doesn't grind, just won't slide into 2nd. It is almost like it was trying to go between two shift gates. I've replaced all the bushings and put in a short shift. Good overall improvement but still the problem from 1st to 2nd. For what its worth
