Default Air Flow Meter Test Results - help!

AFM Test Results
I've just tested my AFM and came up with the following results which may have an impact on performance

Terminals 1 and 4 approx 1.7 kOhm [ok reading]

Terminals 2 and 3 [ !!!!! ???? ]
opening/reading
0%/.68 kOhm
25%/1.2 kOhm
50%/.8 kOhm
75%/.5 kOhm
100%/.15 kOhm

If I understand this load reading test, it should sweep increasingly to an upward value through the movement of the vane from closed to fully open. Yes? Mine moves up and then jerks around between 25% and 50% and then drops pretty much from that point to almost 0 kOhms and full open.

Is my AFM hosed?

BTW, I've retraced the connections inside and the contacts look unworn.

thanks for your further advice and diagnosis help

You really need to check voltage as a function of the flap angle of the AFM
and not the resistance. Measure pin 7 of the DME unit, key "on, as the flap
is moved. The voltage should move smoothly from about 1.0 volts at rest
to about 4.7 volts at the maximum flap angle. You can back-probe either the
AFM or the DME unit.

Yup, good instructions

Thanks Loren, I tested out of the car with a 9v battery on terminals 3 and 4 [gnd] and the voltmeter on 2 and 4. The AFM was good - smoothly from about .5v closed to 8.1v fully open. No dropouts.
