Default '87 911 Fuel gauge - not gauging

I could use some help.

I have a 1987 Carrera 3.2 w/140K miles and the fuel gauge sits mid-way, regardless of what's actually in the tank. Tapping on the glass in front of the needle does nothing.

Do I start with replacing the sender unit in the tank?

Thanks!

Glenn: Yes, the tank sender is the problem 98% of the time. Don't forget to buy a new seal also!

Pete,

Many thanks for the confirmation.

I'll give it a shot!
