Having recently acquired an '87 Targa with original single-stage paint, I've had to do some brushing up on how to properly care for the finish.
It's finicky paint that doesn't react well to products and processes I've used in the past (on more modern, harder paint finishes - with clear coat).
I'm feeling a little bit more confident now seeing that the original Carmine Red paint appears to be happy with the processes and products I'm now using on it.
A few weeks of cold and snow has provided a good opportunity to devote time to detail the exterior. I'm fortunate that the paint, rubber, and glass are all original and in very good condition.
Given the age of the car, I did approach and address the work in a very studied fashion.
Just got this car a couple weeks ago...first Porsche ever and finally fulfilled a goal I've had for many decades to own a 911...so excited I still just walk out into the garage every once in a while and stare at it...
