Is the 850 a V8 or V12? I considered an 850 before I got the Carrera.

That's true - whoops, I meant to ask him about his "8-series" instead of asking about his "850." When researching, I found that not all 840s had reliable engines, but the 850s were. I guess the V-12 was two 6-cylinder engines joined at the hip (and you know how well BMW makes an inline 6). But the V8 was a different engine...

You know, when I started looking for a G50 silver coupe, I wanted one with a Carerra tail and front spoiler - then I found my little coupe in Texas as you see it.

I planned on getting tail for it asap, but as the weeks went on I truly fell in love with the car as it is. It's pretty much totally stock (except for the 930S steering wheel I'm about to install) and I can't imagine her any other way.

SUHWEEEEET!!! I'm a sucker for grays. Your car looks tasteful and aggressive without being over the top. Very nice!

It's funny, because people have widely varied opinions on the tail. My tail is so huge on the Carrera that it covers the entire engine lid and even sticks out some. I love that it is functional, part of the design, and supposedly improves road holding at high speeds. And it's a Porsche modification, not some aftermarket piece. But I also love the curves on the car without one. So it's a tough decision, really. The best option might be the newer cars, with the highly functional tail that recesses when not needed.

Jastx:

Thanks for the complement. The entire body kit and wheels were made and installed by Strosek at their factory in Germany. I managed to get a copy of the dealer's invoice from Strosek and the modifications totalled over 40,000 DM's which translates to roughly US $30,000. That was quite a bit of money for just the modifications in 1990 dollars.

I was not even aware of what Strosek was until I started to research the car at the time of purchase. I am aware of one other Strosek in Canada.
