Also, while you are at it make sure its not a Euro car.... probably not, but I'd guess it would be worth way more if it were

Grant: Bingo! In '73 the 5th digit "6" denoted Carrera (RS). In '74 it was the same (Euro Carrera), BUT the 5th digit "4" denoted USA/CA Carreras. The "4" remained to identify the '75 USA Carrera, but in '76 the "4" was dropped and "8" was used for USA Turbo Carreras.
Someone mentioned rarity. There were 528 USA/CA Carrera coupes and 246 USA/CA Carrera Targas built in '74.
