Ok, I'm really really interested in the Porsche 911s, carreras, and targas, 911 turbos, but what exactly is the difference?
Ok, I understand Targa just really means removeable roof (hard top convertable), but, what about carrera, and 911? Is a 911 a carrera, and is a carrera a 911?
Ok, now it a good time to call me noob.

Brother "Noob",....![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
First, let me recommend a few books for your personal library that will REALLY help you understand all this and make great reference material:
1) The Used 911 Story by Pete Zimmermann
2) Porsche 911 Red Book; 1965-1999 by Patrick Paternie
Now,.......to your questions:
Generally speaking, all rear-engined 6 cylinder Porsches are considered 911's.
Some are Coupe's, some are Targa's, and some are Cabriolet's.
All 911's from '78 to '83 were called 911SC's.
All 911's from'84 on were called Carrera's.
Turbocharged 911's were called Turbo Carrera's from '75 to '77. After that, these were simply called "Turbo". Since many of theye parts were indigenous to that car, they were also referred to as a 930 to distinguish them from the naturally aspirated 911's.
Porsche made during various times; Turbo Coupe's, Turbo Targa's, and Turbo Cabriolets.
After you read those two books, everything will fall into place and you'll be a virtual expert,.....
