Default Car Cover

Hi everyone,

Even though my car is parked indoors, I am looking for an outdoor car cover for the occasional outside overnight stays (week-end trips). An indoor/outdoor cover would be nice but I care more about outdoor protection (sun/eventual rain/birds etc.).

Any feedback would be most helpful. The Stormproof from coverking seems good, but a little expensive ($177).

Thanks in advance,

second for tyvek since you want to use it on trips - since there will be luggage etc. in the trunk too, you want to take up less room with the cover

note that Tyvek can abrade a tad more than a softer material

I usually don't use a cover even tho I got a Porsche one cheap

I just bought a cover from Cover Craft yesterday....I haven't gotten it yet but I got the "weatherGuard" which is supposed to be the top of the line, regularly $290 ended up getting it shipped to me for $100 even. I'll let you know what its like once I recieve it.

BTW I don't know if it was on sale or they had a return/open package or what...they said it was brand new....this was after I asked about other "cheaper" covers....then she mentions that she has the one I was originally inquiring about for $100 bucks

Thanks for all the input.

Phil, did you call covercraft directly or was it a re-seller? That's a pretty good price!
Chuck, I love the color of your car - nearly got an 88 with a similar color before getting my black 87 (I still think about it!).

Yeah I did call them direct, I don't have the # in front of me right now but if you want I could get it for you....they had a nice big advert in the latest Excellence mag.

I've tried most of the various covers, including Tyvek, etc.

The only one I really like, and continue to use, are 100% cotton.

100% cotton is the easiest on your finish (that's why detailers use 100% cotton on your car).

It breathes the best (that's why cotton is the most comfortable clothing to wear).

It is easily washed and dried in the home drier (unlike a lot of the bulkier materials, which won't fit).

In between washings, you can shake it out, and all the dust, etc. comes right out.

It has nice thickness, but doesn't take too much room when stored in the car.

Interested to hear how the covers 'fit'. I got mine from the local P dealer for my '85, but it looks to be cut for a 993 - fits snug but doesn't fit that well. I took the first cover back to the dealer and got another, but it's the same...

kcpsg,

I would be interested in the number - otherwise, I will check out excellence (haven't bought it this month).

Thanks all for the responses
