Default Porsche Engine lid badge (Aluminium) re plating

Hi

I have the 2 piece badge for a Porshe 912 which is made out of Aluminium Alloy. These badges are hard to get hold of and is the correct one for my 1966.

Can anyone tell me where to get it re-plated in the UK or even US as I am in Jersey, UK and will have to post it anyway.

It has been sprayed black and I want it to have the polished finish, I think the best way is to have it plated?

All help appreciated. I will post on the 356 board to see if anyone knows there?

Thanks
Rob

I just did mine on my 911sc and Targa badge. I removed the silver paint and used a scotchbright pad on a drill motor. It has the brushed aluminum look that looks much cooler than paint. I was thinking of going to the black on black look when I get tired if it next. It was an option. I wouldn't plate it. Some things look strange on our p-cars like when I just repainted my Targa bar skin gloss black. Should be a semi flat, flat, or spattered look. Still trying to find out what was stock ?

Good Luck,

Ron

Maybe clear anodizing would give a good, durable look?
