Default Pictures of a dream come true

I wanted my first post to be a good one...

I was finally able to save some money this year and here is my reward... A higher mileage but very well maintained and restored '87 Carrera. Very, very clean inside and out (previous owner's house in the background...).

A special thanks to my buddy Chris M. out there who not only helped me enormously with "the search," but drove me up to Indianapolis to pick her up, and also just successfully completed it's first DIY project: front brake caliper rebuilds and new rotors. She's runnin' pretty sweet...

Beautiful car! Enjoy!

I dreamed of one for 30 years before I finally got mine.

The Fuchs on this car did not look any better when they left the showroom 18 years ago. Truly amazing. All original except for the stereo and speakers, she's been well taken care of and it shows. It's fun having a classic in the "family". Now Jack, about that 993....

Awesome looking ride. Best of luck with her. Wheels look nice with the colored crest. I'm thinking of that as well.

how old are the brake hoses and the brake fluid?

I posted a new car checkup thread on Pelican a week or less ago - you might want to search it up - there are several good replies

your car looks incredibly shiny for its age - even the engine

Congrats to a fellow Lexingtonian. 30 years? When I was growing up there in the 70s, we dreamed of Mustangs and Camaros, and Corvettes were the ultimate. I don't think I ever saw a Porsche there - or maybe I just didn't know what that funny furrin' car was. First time I took my 911 home, a girl asked me "What's a 'targo?'" while squinting at the script on the roll bar.

You made an excellent choice. The G50 cars are blue chip Porsches nowadays, ranking with the early 911S and the 993 as depreciation-proof imo. And all of my Porsches have been Guards Red.

Black was always my favorite color... I grew up with my Dad's black on red '79 SC. For most of my search, black was the only color I would consider until I saw a red one... It sure is tough to beat the classic Guards Red on black...

And Emanuel, Lexington has a really active local PCA chapter with some really nice cars of all ages... you'd be surprised... I was. Great story about the "Targo."

Ditto - Very Nice!!! I hope you enjoy your first one as much as I'm enjoying mine. I about to rebuild calipers also. Love the crests on the wheels!

Lovely car !! Just like my 85 ', but will you consider putting on the whale tail spoiler ( since you have the front ) The car will handle much better at speed....

I would love a whale tail... but only a Carrera one... I'm not as fond of the Turbo tails.

They're all just so damn expensive... even beat-up pre-owned ones on Ebay. I was really excited that the PO had installed the front end spoiler. It looks great and (from what I'm told) makes a big difference in handling.

I'm also interested in the black rear wheel stone guards.

You can get magnetic ones... these are better IMHO becasue they are easily removeable for washing/waxing the car. The adhesive ones get ratty after a while.

Did you detail that engine bay, or the PO? Whoever did it spent some time on it, it looks fantastic. You could eat off it. And the wheels look amazing. I love those Fuchs.
