Go Fast Diet - Loose 52 lbs in 4 hrs!
I finally got around to removing the weak AC system from the car yesterday. Took about 4 hours including cleanup and reinstalling the hose clamp bolts to prevent water entry.
Straight forward job including removing the compressor bracket - only step that was a tad frustrating was pulling the hoses through the engine compartment - very tight spaces - can't imagine reinstalling without removing the engine. Sealed all hose ends, compressor, etc for storage.
Tip: Tape the engine compartment hose ends BEFORE pulling out as the loose fittings can get hung up (fortunately I taped them up first).
Even removed the front condensor blower motor and covered hole with fabricated aluminum block-off plate. Did leave the blower motor and evaporator in smugglers box as weight wasn't much and will allow for air blower through vents.
Complete system and all hoses weigh just at 52 lbs.
PS - Stock 6-way power leather seats also weigh 52 lbs.

Additional weight savings:
- Rear Seat Backs (pr) = 15 lbs
- Insulation behind package shelf = ~15 lbs
- Stock 6-way power seats (ea) = 52 lbs
- Factory exhaust system = + 50 lbs

Replace the lead acid battery with a dry cell battery (30 lb. saved).
Remove the spare and tool kit (50 lb. saved)
Run 1/2 a tank of gas (70 lb. saved)
Loose the sunroof (30 lb up high saved)
Replace the steel front fenders, hood and engine cover with carbon fiber (120 lb. saved)

Removing the standard fuel tank on my 911 and replacing with with a 24 lt fuel cell saved 15 lb. Replacing the indicator and brake light unit for the rear and replacing it with an aluminium manufactured housing - 6.8 lb.
Keep on looking for the small savings - the big savings will follow as if by magic.
