Post some pictures of your engines here. I'm thinking about painting/polishing the fan and housing etc.....and wanted to get ideas of some things that have been done, as well as some of the things to avoid etc...!!

I don't know how to insert a photo into a post, but here is a link to my gallery page on Pelican's web site. One of the pictures is of the engine.

My fan just has the crap rubbed off with 3M abrasive pads. Housing was smoothed with abrasive pads and painted with high temp. flat black. Nothing fancy, pretty plain.

Kevin, How did you get your Magnecore wires through the stock wire guides??

Here's mine. You may notice that the engine is facing the "proper" direction :-)

James,

I drilled out the guides with a 11/32" bit I believe. Had to open cut the rubber tubing (the part that goes over the fan housing) to put it on the new wires as the wire ends do not unscrew like the factory wires.

JPIII,

"Proper" is a relative term! What if you have to adjust your fan belt?!

Work in progress. Fan and housing was a job - 20 years worth of grit and oxidation. (Obviously, I am not a concourse type) Coil relocating to not distract from polish job. Heater motor shot, so going to the old vw style-using engine to push air. The foil tubing is junk, so will modify and use solid tubing, chromed to connect to heat exchangers. Masking, painting etc. Value cover polish may be next. It's coming together

Hey.....I just got off the turnip truck.....but not the last one.

There be a removable pannel on the fire wall
for such contingencies.
