While all years of the SC's are good, I like the 1981 and later SC's, after they went to the O2 sensor (1980), and added metal fuel injector lines in 1981. If you haven't already, you may want to look at the 911SC FAQ at tech.rennlist.com

I remember seeing a market update just a few issues ago but I can't put my hands on it. I do remember that that just about all the SC's as mentioned above after 81 were increasing in value at a pretty good rate.

the SC 83 cab may be desireable (1 yr production) and some folks are asking good money for the '80 Weissach model (again 1 year prodcution).

I don't think the Excellence values reflect *today's* market (they are too high). Check the classifieds and Ebay to get a feel for how prices are going. In general, low miles cars (under 50K miles) in excellent condition are high teens, and prices drop from there based on mileage and condition. $15K should get you a very clean car, but you have to look as there's lots of tired cars out there. And remember that asking price is exactly that...what the car actually sells for is often quite a bit less.
