Post speedometer question

My speedometer quit working the other day, so I took it apart and can see the gear that is broken. I think I could fix it if I had the parts. Where can I buy gears, or should I look for a inexpensive speedometer on ebay? Will a 924 or 944 speedometer work??
Thanks.

Finding internal parts for our speedometers is next to impossible. Another option you have is to send it to North Hollywood in CA, which I've used and was very pleased with their service (I had my 85 mph face changed and recalibrated to a 150 mph face, plus the odometer wheel fixed). There are other companies that do similar work, too.

Hi
Be advised I have a 81SC and I couldnt stand the 85 mph speedo. So I watched e-bay for about a week and was able to buy a complete set of gauges for 140.00 all in perfect condition and all in working order.

The benefit of replacing the face and recalibration is that the original mileage is retained, and damn if the speedometer wasn't just spot on. Not a little high or a little low. So, 50 mph was 50 mph and 75 was 75, etc. North Hollywood did good work...As I recall cost was around $100.
