Please lets not forget personal choice....this guy probably saved long and hard to create the car of his dreams and while its not my choice of colour or styling maybe he saved a wreck that would have been lost forever from the porsche world.

I agree, it was probably that treatment or the junkyard.

It's a close call, but at least the guy stimulted somebody's economy.

There should have been a caption with the picture:

"Gee...wasn't the engine in front when we bought it?"

I don't see what's so rice about it? Its got fiberglass bumpers and rockers and a painted targa bar. As for the color, well Porsche had a factory color very similar to that, does that mean Porsche is rice too? Now if he had stickers all over it and clear lenses that would be different but if you call this rice then that's like saying anyone whose put fiberglass bumpers on their car is rice.

later,

Unless there's a honda engine in there, that ain't "rice". It's a a C2 body conversion (apparently nicely done). The color is certainly close to a factory color (we call it "smurf" or "jelly bean" blue, but it has a real name like Riveria Blue). I would have preferred if the targa bar remained black, and I would switch the headlights to H-4s, it's still a Porsche though.

so that's how the other half lives...Talk about lack of discretion? (or even, direction!)

but notice closely - the kids, and the fact that that is the ONLY car in the pic that has RWD. Insert a Honda in the place of the 911 and voila, instant rice party sceene.

If it doesn't look rice to you , then the owner didn't do enough "mods". I'm pretty sure it was supposed to be ricey, either that or we're just not hip enough anymore. That overextended prong chrome exhaust tip enough of a hint?

Where was this pic taken? Import drag nights? Looks like staging lanes somewhere.

Hate it when they bastardize a nice 911 w/ aftermarket kits and wings and later model bits and pieces, just makes the cars look so cheap.

I wonder what kind of ET he turned? Hope he got his "NAWZZ" on.

i wouldnt call this rice.....it is in no way rice....

he is just guilty of bad taste...

why the bkit???to clean the car up a bit...plus its probally the latest porsche (911) he could afford...

sure the colour is TERRIBLE, but it still aint rice....

those winglets under the front bumper do look pretty gay...

if you look in the background, the other cars arent that rice....only one has a painted/or cb bonnet....

the rest just look like stock (externally at least) every day cars...

anyway whats wrong with a big *** body kit????

you guys do it all the time (for your wkend lightweight rs racers.....)

he should be shot for the colour.... <img src="graemlins/cussing.gif" border="0" alt="[grrrrrrr]" />

That's not as ugly as a Strosek body conversion - now, those really ruin the "Porsche look"!

Pretty much anything FWD with "performance mods" is rice IMHO. I know there's some (a few) serious cars crawling around out there that will hand me my a$$ on a platter, but still, the great majority is what does it.

Face it, it's cosmetically challenged. Period.

Some of you guys are so down on the young kids modding their cars... I just don't get it. Most younger kids buy Japanese cars becuase they are reliable, fun and parts are a plenty (my daughter drives a stock Honda Prelude). They see their cars as a hobby and an extension of themselves.... Don't we feel that way also? Yes, some have bad taste, but I can think of many other things they could be doing with their time and money (drugs, etc.). Their interest in cars is expressed differently than ours but they are a different generation (and subject to much more marketing than we were).

Do you also slam Harley owners who spend thousands buying chrome for their bikes? How about all the "gearheads" that have for generations modded their hot rods (Fords, Chevy's)? How many of you have modded your Porsche's? Better turbos, turbo tie-rods, drilled airboxes, better radios, Carrera tails and spoilers where there were none, etc.?

I drive a stock BMW 325I and plan to buy a 911 in the next two years that will also be kept "mostly stock". BUT, I also applaud these young kids that save their cash for mods and shows and such rather than buying drugs, alcohol and trouble. The money spent on their cars and mods is money back in the economy, it means they are working and paying taxes (rather than sucking the system) and they love cars.... How bad can that be?

A little more tolerance would be nice around here.

Thanks for listening.... <img src="graemlins/soapbox.gif" border="0" alt="[soapbox]" />

Eric
