Just bought a '79 targa 82k all options plus recaro sports for $10.5k. Exterior is 9/10, interior is 7/10 (needs front seat recover and new carpet).
The seller was a little "out there"...I think I could fix up the interior and get $14k...

It sounda a little high to me - although if the car is in excellent mech. condition - you get what you pay for. With that mileage, youll be looking at a clutch sooner than later.

the repaint is nice. all rubber replaced. some small cracks inside door frame, but that is it. original leather, no cracks, no fading. carpet and rest of interior look brand new. new ceramic disk clutch, chain tensioners, rotary air compressor, the only thing it needs is a couple of tires, everything works.

The price on this sounds high, especially in today's market. The repaint would be considered a negative by many. Look under the post titled "good deal?" for another priceing example - an 83 with 110k for 12k.

Why the repaint? I'd get the answer to that question first. Porsche paint looks good for a lot of years if cared for properly. My soon-to-be father in law's 64 356SC still has it's original paint (dark blue) and shines up very nicely. How does he know?, he's the original owner.
I tend to be leary of repaints. I'd have a body bodyman go over the car and look for accident repair work. One of the main reasons I bought my 84 three years ago was because it had not been repainted which meant no body work.
