Post Loose steering column, is there an adjustment?

My steering column is loose, I can move the wheel up and down , and left to right about a quarter of an inch. I have not tore it down yet to see what the problem is. I was wondering if someone knows of a adjustment or what the problem is going to be? Is there some type of bushing that might be worn?

Rodger dodger on the bushing. There's a plastic bushing in the upper steering assembly that can distintegrate over time. Solution is to buy a metal 928 part, take the steering wheel off, push the plastic pieces down the steering column, and tap the 928 part in. Performance Products sells them for $15 (p 169 in their catalog #52A). If you want the 928 part number I can dig that up for you, send me an email.

I can verify that in fact, that solution works like a CHAMP!

I can vouch for it as well. The hardest part is removing the steering wheel.

Thanks everyone for the input. I found one at Automobile of Atlanta $15.00. It should be here Monday. I have already removed the wheel, it is being replaced by Dino Sport wheel. <img src="graemlins/xyxwave.gif" border="0" alt="[bigbye]" /> <img src="graemlins/xyxwave.gif" border="0" alt="[bigbye]" /> <img src="graemlins/drink.gif" border="0" alt="[cherrsagai]" />
