Default What type of oil?

What grade of oil should I use? Also from which company? I live in Michigan, but will be using my 1986 Carerra only in the summer. Temps are between 60 and 100 deg. I might make one long trip (3 hrs). I plan on using it often during the week if it makes a difference.

Hi Michael:

I'd use either Mobil 1 15w-50 or Kendall GT-1 20w-50. You can also use Valvoline Racing 20w-50.

Just pick any name brand of oil that you like. They are all perfectly good and neither you nor your car will know any difference between brands.

This is an interesting article: http://motorcycleinfo.calsci.com/Oils1.html

I'm currently using 20-50w Castrol Syntec Blend in my '87 on the advice of my wrench and the previous owner. It's cheap enough to change often but has some of the high temp resiliance that I want. I have done two track events and a 200 mile drive out in 90+ degrees and the oil looks new after 1500 miles. Car has 65K. Syntec blend can be found for $2.00 a quart on sale.

I have been thinking about Mobil 1 as it is cheap(er) at Costco and also the Shell Rotella T synthetic is $13 a quart at WalMart.

Best regards,
Paul
