A question for the trannsmission experts:
A friend has a 2.4T with Sportomatic. The sporto sucks, but unfortunately he is not financially (young kids etc. etc.) in a position to just go out and purchase another tranny, so the thinking started.....
He has the Sportomatic still in the car, a complete 914 type 901 and a disassembled box of bits (propably some parts missing) 911 type 901.
Would it be possible to take the internals out of the Sportomatic case and swap the 901 gear shafts etc. in there to build a 5 speed, or are the transmission cases that much different?
Any help/info would be appreciated.
Thanks
Stef
