Don't worry Peter, the 3 ton jack stands come out any time something gets higher than to change a tire. I pulled the pump to check for anything obvious in the lines, check valve, etc. and to verify the rubber mounts are OK - they are. The increased noise seems to be temp related and we've gone from winter temps to summer in about 4 weeks so it may be a normal variable of operation.

In any event I'll order a new one next week but since the car is otherwise driving great I'll take my chances for now - it's Fiesta Del Porsche here in Albuquerque this weekend and I don't want to miss out!

Thanks to everyone for the insight...

Did anyone have a response to DGaunt's question about the correct amerage draw for the fuel pump. I would be curious to know that as well.

Thanks as always

For a DME motor Bentley's says 4 - 6 amps, higher draw indicates a worn pump.
