Default Need 911 advice

I have a '94 968 6 speed that is perfect, it has won 2 Concous Events and could be the nicest 968 around. My car has 11k miles and has every document including fuel reciepts. I could not post pictures, I am sorry. While I love my car, I found it by accident while looking for a 86-89 911 Coupe. As fate would have it, I have found a 911 that mirrors my 968's condition and I can't decide what to do. Should I sell my 968, or because of its rarity and condition, should I let the 911 bug go until I can afford both? I currently owm a '74 914 and have been looking for a 928. I could forgo the 928 hunt but I still wouldn't be able to afford this 911. I will not part with the 914. It was my first car and it is now my track car.

Any advice would be appreciated. If you would like to see pictures of my car, drop me an email at bokeith@firstexpress.net.

All opinions welcomed.

If you cant swing both cars, A 911 in as good of shape as your 968 would make a far better return on investment later down the road. Pass on the 928 altogether if you dont like frequent repair bills of more than $1000 for a car that will probably never appreciate significantly, unless you want a great GT car for road trips on the weekend.

I would go with the 911. Several members of the Longhorn Region, PCA here in San Antonio have 968's and they can be fairly expensive like the 928. I've seen them drop in value a lot more than the 911's. I agree with fixnprsh that the 911 would be a better investment, but you have to go with what you want and feel is the right thing to do.

The 911 is an icon vis-a-vis the other cars you are talking about; you can't go wrong owning an icon in the long run......

I think only you can answer these questions. What do you use the 968 for now? Just concours? Full records and 11,000 miles makes for a nice concours car...

What Porsche model do you really lust after? I'm a 911 guy. So, if I found a 968 like yours, I doubt I would buy a car like that since I'm not really into the 944/968 models (however, they are fantastic cars and are great Porsches).

If you really lust after a 911, sell the 968 and buy the 911. If you really love the 968, just keep what you have since you probably have a perfect Porsche. If you do sell the 968, keep in mind that it might be a long time before you find a perfect, 11,000 mile, full records car in mint shape to replace the car you sold...

Just my $.02 and I'm not sure if that even helps...,

Default Buy the 911!

If it were me I would go for the 911 anytime!

Almost zero depreciation, a driving experience unequalled in any other car & the opportunity to own "the" iconic sports car of the last 30 years!

A 928 is nice but it's just another sports car in the end.......sorry!

Perhaps I'm blinkered, 911's do that to you....be carefull

This is not the best way to air a reasonable opinion.

I think an apology is in order

Strange place to ask this question - all the guys here are biased - they run 911's!! What answer did you expect to get? Have you tried this thread on the water cooled site?

Seems you have already partly made up you mind and have come to the 911 forum for reassurance.

Dave - come on man that's not the language for this site, and uncalled for.

I had a toss-up between a mint 928 and a mint 911 - I was advised that I would always hanker after the 911 because to many (including me!!) this is THE iconic Porsche.

Don't get me wrong, the 928/968's are lovely cars but the engine is at the wrong end!!!

Buy a 911, you will not regret it - depreciation? - never - they will probably rise in value in years to come.

Out of the 20+ cars I have owned the 911 is the best.

a 968 is a very quick car, and will hand a 911 its *** on a mountain road, don't under estimate these cars due to a front mounted motor that has a water pump hanging on it.

However a 911 is well.....a 911. They will rise in value. No doubt about it going up in value as the years pass.
