Hi.
Ive noticed on some 911s that people rotate the tacho anticlockwise by 90 deg so that the redline or 6000 rpm mark is at the 12.0 position. Is there a particular reason why people do this - is it for street cred as a racer or does it prove to be a worthwhile thing for track days. I guess the 4000 - 7000 is the interesting part of the rev range so it may as well be where you can see it. Just wondered thats all.
Richard.

Dunno about the tach, I've seen the same thing. I've been thinking of doing that with my speedo because I have a smaller steering wheel on the car that blocks the gauge between 60-80 - if I rotated it counter clockwise about 20-30 degrees I would be able to see that range much easier.

I always rotate it so redline is straight up, its easier to see at a glance if you cant do it by ear.
I also rotate the speedo so the speed limit area of the face (65-75MPH) isnt hiding from me behind the wheel.
L8 Apex, how is the car coming along anyway? Got any new pics?

I rotated all of the guages (and the horn button) on my previous 911. I thought it looked different, thus good. I'll see if I can dig up a picture. They've got to be here somewhere.
I decided to use a 360mm wheel in the 84 so I wouldn't lose as much visibility. I still can't see as much of the speedo as I would like, but hey... Who really watches the speedo anyway?!![Wink](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
I'm more interested in oil pressure, temp and RPMs with the occasional glance toward the fuel level.

I rotated my speedo because the former owner put a momo wheel on it and it blocked everythin gfaster than 40, an essential knowledge around Atlanta.
