John, I believe sway bars from the 1976 911"S" to 1989 are interchangeable...I may be wrong, if so, let's hear it! ![Big Grin](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Is the swaybar on a '76 smaller in diameter than that off an '87? If so, the only difference would be the bushings that you use on the mounts...your "upgraded" ones.

If you bring the 87 bar-end mounting hardware along with the swaybar, it "should" work. The hardware is different, as is the shape of the bar, between 76 and 87. You probably already know that the frame mount (that the bar supports on the long portion of the bar bolt to) on the later Carrera's is a stronger part than stock on the 76. If you still have the stock mount, a thicker anti-sway bar may cause the older style mount to tear off the frame at some point in the future. Some people weld some support to the older style mounts to preclude that, or you can buy the new style mounts, grind off the older ones and weld in the new ones. Or just wait until something breaks, then address it. If that's what you meant by updated mounts, then obviously it's not a consideration for you.
