Question Initial Fill

After draining all of the oil out of the engine and out of the holding tank I was wondering the ammount I should refill before starting the car to get an accurate check. 1975 2.7 911S

I would put in 10 quarts, run it up to temperature and check level. You can add slowly from that point until you have a level approximately halfway between full and the add line. Never fill all the way to the full mark.

LOL.

I put in 8 quarts in my 83SC,start it up and let it idle for about 10 minutes and then add 2 more quarts, then drive it for about 15 minutes, bring it back in the garage and check the oil,I usually only have to add another 1/2 quart to bring the level to the middle of the 2 marks on the dipstick.
