Default Laether Storage

I have just removed the standard sports seats from my 930 and fitted a pair of RS Recaro's. I want to keep the standard seats to retain re-sale value but am unsure of the best way of storing them/preparing them for storage.

Any recomendations for treatments I should apply or a system I could use to store them to ensure they don't dry out or rot or whatever else could happen?

Thanks

P.s. I live in the damp UK

Just give them a real heavy coat of Lexol or Hide Food and cover them with an old bedsheet to keep the dust & dirt off.

Retreat them every year.

Also, in addition to the info that Steve correctly offered, don't store one on top of the other! If you do the bottom seat will get impressions (dents?) from the other seat, and those marks may never come out.

I'll add that you could also store them with the seat backs in the most forward tilted position. Most automotive seats have some sort of spring mechanism to assist the occupant when the seat back is released and tilted forward. I assume that the spring used to help out is in it's most 'relaxed' state when the seat back is in the forward position.

This might be obvious, but store out of the sunlight as well.

I wonder if wrapping them in clear plastic "pallet wrap" is a good or bad idea?
I did this to the unused 3rd row seats from my new Tahoe to prevent any physical damage from rodents, insects, etc. in addition to protecting them from a good layer of dust and grime.
They are stored on a shelf in the garage.
I'll let you know in a year or so how this method works out!

it would prevent them from breathing

worse, a lot of plastics are made from vinyl - it's the cheapest. Vinyl outgasses an acid that will eventually destroy leather - talk to a pro photographer and ask if he stores his negs in vinyl...
