g5o: Those Yokos are certainly not a performance summer tire. Although the temp rating is the best, and the traction rating is second best (AA rating is tops), I think that the treadwear number is really high. I have Bridgestone RE 940s on one of my cars (220 T.W., A temp, A traction) and RE 730s on the other (330 T.W., A temp and AA traction). Even with the slightly higher TW number the 730s are a much better tire, especially under braking, both wet & dry. The 940s are almost worn out and I'm going to put a set of Bridgestone SO-2s (N-3s) on the car (140 T.W., A temp and AA traction). Also, it's important to know what you want to pair the Yokos with, and how you drive the car. If you're contemplating driver education (at the track) events I would recommend starting out with tires that you can really learn the car with, and they should always be matched (manufacturer & model) front and rear.

g50 - 420 treadwear index!! That's what the Firerocks were back in the early IMSA showroom stock days. They should last a long time with an index like that, but after 3 years tire materials start to go downhill fast. I agree with PeterZ and run Fulda Carat Extremos all around that are 180 A A and love them. They are also less than US$100 each (OK, so I'm cheeep)
Good luck and keep the side windows clean.

Is it safe to say that in general the better the treadwear - the less it will perform/handle? The car currently has four (4) Yoko ES100's but the fonr has about 80% life left, however the rear only about 20% according to the PPI.

Thanks, Pete - I'll check out the Bridgestone line as well. I won't be doing any track and the car is not a daily driver.
