Default 5 AMP Fuses?

Where can I get 5 AMP fuses for my Carrera? I canonly locate 8, 16 & 25 amp fuses at Kragen. Pep Boys doesn't even carry these type of fuses.

In the meantime, is it okay to use 8 amp fuses for those circuits that call for 5 amps?

Thanks!

I found yellow 5 amp fuses at the local NAPA store. Ask for the old VW ceramic yellow 5 amp ones. All auto supply stores ahve the 8, 16, and 25 amp ones in stock.

I recall quite some time ago (when I owned a VW bug or 2), there were glass replacement fuses that were designed like the ceramic versions we are so familiar with. Does anyone know about them?
Are they still available? Who makes them?, Etc. ?

The PO put some on my car. I was going to toss them as you can't tell what amp they are or see if they have blown easily. Then I realized that they had gold contacts and zero corrosion. No idea where to buy them.

I'm reviving this old thread to let anyone who needs a 5 amp fuse know that Pelican sells the old "bullet" fuses in kits - each kit has several amp ratings including a 5.
