Rough Price on 82 911SC
Hi All,
Could someone give me an idea of a good price for an 82 911SC Targa. Very Good condition. 85,000 miles.
Also - would having the original rubber centered clutch affect value? If so - by much?
Thanks in advance.

If it has the original rubber centered clutch, you should replace it. How much, depends on if you do it vs paying to have it done. Check out the clutch parts on Pelican Parts website. Don't buy the car without a thorough PPI.

In this market, unless the car is in really wonderful shape, I'd say it's worth around $10K - $12K. Negatives are the Targa (they generally go cheaper than Coupes) and the rubber clutch. That needs to be replaced - it costs about $1200 if you have someone do it, or about $500 for the parts if you do it yourself. Also, since the clutch hasn't been updated, it's possible that the car also does not have the Carrera chain tensioners or the airbox popoff valve. Use all of these as bargaining points, especially the clutch. If it were me, I'd offer the person $9K and work my way up.

Kelly Blue Book private party values is another data point. The oldest they show is a 1983 911SC Targa, and in excellent condition with mileage shown, for CT zip code, they say $8,825. Good condition $8,225. They show retail as $10,825.
Unfortunately there's not one golden source. You need to look at several sources to hone in on what would be a good price to pay.
