Question Newbie Q: Porsche mechanic in Houston?

Hello, everyone. Just bought a 1982 911SC this week, and I'd like to have someone knowledgable take a look at the transmission. Anyone have recommendations for a good shop in Houston? I live in the Montrose area.

i've heard texans say that mike callas at rennsport in sealy is the best, also eurocar werks on gulfton, galleria area, the only reson I know that is these shops are the closest to me and I'd take my car to them, If I had to, or forced, or broke down without a paddle

Thanks a bunch. I'd just made contact with eurocar werks. I'd like to do some things myself to fix up the 911, but I don't have a heck of a lot of experience working on cars, and rebuilding the tranny isn't where I want to start.

a few shops in Houston to consider.
Protechnik on Murphy Rd. in Stafford. They do a lot of race stuff.

Euro-Car is close to us ( I live in Montrose as well) Euro-car is probably OK.

Lawell Motorsports. They just moved to a place very close to Euro-Car.

Pinnacle Motorsports on Post Oak. ...alot of Ferrari work and they are slow.

Koby motors was supposed to be good buy I think Paul Koby sold his shop so it is only Koby by name.

I don't think we have the best choices for early cars ...particularly the hot-rod types, here in Houston. I have heard good things about Callas out in Sealy though.

What color is your SC just in case I ever see you around the hood?

Hey, Jay. My SC is platinum metallic, which looks champagne-colored to me. It's tough that all of the shops are so far away -- Sealy?? I'd love to go to Protechnik or Viking out in Stafford, but that is a total PITA.

Funny that you have a '74 -- If a seller in California had been more responsive to my questions, I might have had a '74 911 instead of the '82!
