update on my 911 sc looking for advise
Well, This is what is going on. Like I said before the car was sitting for a little while. I when I put a new battery in it fired right up. Things were a little rough. So I went right to the valves. I drained the old oil and and did a complete value adjustment , hoping it would run smoother. What found was on the #2 value there was exhaust residue inside the cover of the intake, and that was the side it was knocking on. I was hoping maybe the valve was sticking open or something other then a burnt valve. Put everything back together. I put new plugs, cap, rotor, and new oil. It fired right up and purred like a kitten....for about three minutes and started knocking again. It sounds like the spring on the valve is broke. I did a leak down test and they all held air, so I did not think is was a burnt valve. I was looking for some advise. Please help.

What about fuel delivery system? Is everything in order there? Perhaps it's worth going through the CIS and making sure all that is working properly. Plus there's the fuel pump, accumulator, and filter.

if it's REALLY old gas in the system, and i mean REALLY OLD, it turns into wax, clogging up almost everything.
you might want to check that out. i had that problem on my lawnmover *blush*, but hey, with over half a year of snow here, things like that happen..

A broken valve spring is very easy to find. If you can depress the rocker arm with your thumb you've
got a broken spring. I've never had a broken spring cause a knocking noise. Usually they will give the
car a slight miss at 2500-3500 rpm's. I have seen a loose valve guide cause all kind of strange
noises. Take a long screwdriver and try to pin point where the noise is coming from(valve cover, cyl. area, crankcase). Usually when CIS cars sit for a long time the fuel dist. head will become restricted, causing the engine to run poorly. I've also seen them run ok but idle rough due to uneven fuel flow. I have found a place in Louisiana that rebuilds fuel heads (a rep for Bosch gave me his name). I have sent 5-4 heads to be rebuilt with excellent results. I would like to see more pictures ofthe Buses.

Burning Brakes
This may be out in left field, but that sounds a lot like a problem I had this past summer with my car. It would run perfectly. then run with a stumble, then run perfectly, then stumble. Because of the back and forth, I ruled out mechanical problems and figured it had to be something electrical. Long and short, it turned out to be a bad fuel pump relay. When it would cut out, it would stumble like it was on 5 cylinders, and then it would work again and the fule pump would come back to life and all would be OK. You may want to check that.,..they are very cheap, easy to replace (plug and unplug) and I understand they tend to need replacement fairly often.
