Default Need Stainless Steel Hardware - - Heater Flapper drilled 4 mm bolts

Hello fellow listers:

I have a 1966 911 coupe that I am rebuilding and the two 4 mm in diameter bolts that hold the wires on the arm that move the flapper valve in the heater boxes are totally gone!! The have a shoulder on them that fits into the arm and the threaded length is approximately 12 mm long.

I am also interested in a Porsche supplier of stainless steel nuts and bolts too!!

Thanks, Tom

Hi, I am doing the same thing on my 912. I ordered them from the dealer. When I reused mine I over tightened and broke them. I can fax my order sheet to you for information, part numbers etc.

Hi Steve,

I don't have a fax, but if you could send the forum or an email with the part numbers, I would appreciate that!!

Thanks, Tom

Here we go, FYI I ordered four sets so I can do the tops and bottoms.

Hex Bolt 901-211-683-00 $7.96
Nut M4 N-011-004-6 $0.33

I am going to buy the new washers at the hardware store!

Wow, That's steep unless they are a "non" standard shoulder bolt. You can get a standard 8.8 steel shoulder bolt from McMaster for a fraction of that.

Also, go visit your local hardware store that has the rows of little hardware bxes, you may find the bolts there as well.

Steve, thanks for the data!!

Harry, I understand your shock at these prices, but the bolt is drilled and it's a 4 mm bolt, so it's kinda unique.

I've tried drilling a 4mm bolt for this application - unsuccessfully.
Be aware that stainless bolts are generally weaker than steel ones. If you look in the previously mentioned McMasterCarr catalog you'll find that a grade 8.8 bolt is rated at around 116,00psi. A stainless one is rated at 70,000psi.
