I recently purchased a 1989 930 Turbo coupe. I had a PPI done on the car at a Porsche dealership and it got a great review. I was told the car was 100% stock except for a custom stainless steel exhaust. I recently took the car to another local dealer to have the CO adjusted and they found that the car had no catalytic converter, no airpump, and no backfire valve. Do I have any problems here? Any advise would be appreciated.
As long as you don't come to California! You will never be able to re-sell your car in a state with tough smog laws. I suggest that you show up at the seller's house on Saturday morning and see if he has the car's exhaust. When my shop did a car mod for track purposes we wire-tagged all the parts and returned them to the car's owner for home storage. Who knows, maybe you'll get lucky...

Thanks for the advise. Apparently the guy who owned it before the seller had the exhaust done so it's long gone. I live in NH so I shouldn't have any problems with inspection. Only problem is re-sale, but I plan on keeping this baby! It looks like I can get a used stock exhaust with converter for about $1400. I may go back to the stock exhaust since the custom doesn't do much on a Turbo.
