Default A Wheel question

Hey fellow Porsche brothers, a question about wheel and tire sizing. I own a 79 sc what is the widest fuchs Wheel/tire size that can fit without rolling the fenders out? I am now running 6" x 16" front and 7" x 16" fuchs rear with 205/55/16 and 225/50/16. Thank You.

You may want to read the 911SC FAQ on tech.rennlist.com, which discusses that, amongst other topics.

I hate when people say this, but.................do a search. Since mine isn't an SC, I'm not going to commit to an answer here. You can certainly go much larger than you are now. Do a search here and at PP.com for widest tire or biggest rim+non flared or sc flares. Don't forget that ride heigth has a lot to do with rolling fenders or not.

I'm certain you could go to at least 7J in the front with 225/50, and 8J in the back with 245/45. That's what I have on my Carrera and I believe the fenders are the same on the SC. As mentioned above, though, ride height is a factor.

Mine are only slightly rolled - I have 951 8's and 9's = Rolling was minor. 225/50/16 and 245/45/16. Carrera and SC flares are very similiar

I have 7's in the front with 225/50, and 8' in the back with 245/45. I know people who have 8's and 9's on their 911's too. I know they had to roll their feners just a little however. Best wishes - Jay Gratton

My Carrera runs 225 and 255. No problem on the rear (in fact I am about to fit 7mm shims for a slightly wider track) but the front fender lip had to be rolled under a tad for better clearance.

Like Dave said, Carrera bodies are basically the same as the SC......Just watch the height.

bc911... just another opinion, but you may want to stick to a 7" with 205 section tire on the front. 225 on an 8" wheel is probably tight... may be ok, maybe not depending on the wheel offset, camber, stiffness of suspension etc. you may also get some rubbing on the inside wheel well so check for that too.

Unless you are doing track, the 205 will really give you plenty of grip on the street, and track better in a straight line. 225 will cause more tramlining and nibbling on rough roads. Also you probably need to increase the negative camber significantly to really get the use out of the extra tire width, and that will further reduce straight-line tracking.... so it is kind of overkill IMHO.

245 on 9" in rear works and puts rubber where it is needed as well as looking good. FAQ Should tell you the proper offset, but I believe the Turbo Fuchs fits fine, but double check that your oil lines are not rubbing.
