1973 911E max rpm?
Hello everybody!
I'm a newbie her. I've been a passive member for a year or so, but now I thought I should do my first post. I've recently bought a 73 911 2.4E, a gorgeous car!
I wonder how much rev this engine can securely withstand? The engine is apparently in good conditon, with virtually no oil consumption and makes all the right sounds. The engine now cuts at 6500 rpm. I've talked to a few guys who says I can raise the cut to 7200 with no problem. Is this true?
It's not like I'm going to trash the s... out of the car, but I've experienced on a couple of track days that the 2. gear is a bit low, and the third is a bit to high, through a few bends.

Petter:
Your 911E should have a 7100 RPM rotor in the distributor. That 6500 RPM one is from the "T".
Buy a Bosch # 04028 and you'll be fine,....

I've never seen my engine cut out. What are all the options and would there be one without? Can I tell visually, just looking at the rotor? Its a 2.4 punched to 2.7 MFI, but don't know about the dizzy. I know I've shifted over 7k without problem so far, but..........
