I have a Euro 1988 3.2 Carrera with a G-50 gearbox. For a long time now, I have felt that the changing of the gears has not been very smooth in my car but thought that it was inherent. Especially from 1st to 2nd gear, there is a bit of a "grinding" feeling. Recently, I sat in another 3.2 and was surprised at how smooth that gearbox was - almost like a Japanese car and comparable to the 993 and 996 manual gearboxes. Although I have gotten used to the "slightly rough" gear-changing in my car, I would obviously like to rectify the probelm if it won't cost too much. Can anyone identify the problem I have and suggest how I can improve the smoothness in the gear changing ?
