I've got a pair of Koni Struts out of a 71 911. I will be using my car on the track, and I plan on using 22mm and 28/29mm t-bars and 22mm sway bars front and rear. Mr. Anderson states in his Handbook that Koni offers adjustable, low pressure, double-tube struts for the 911 (p195).
1.Who supplies these inserts?
2.Will all Koni strut bodies accept the same inserts?
3.Does Koni offer a Sport insert that would work well?
4.Would these inserts be properly valved for my application 'out of the box'?
First you need to identify which strut housing you have.
Black= Boge
red/orage=Koni
Green=Biltstien
If your car came originally with Koni's or Boge, you're in luck. If it came with Bilstien's then you would have to change the front struts to put Koni's in.
On the rear it doesn't matter what the car came with originally.
Yes I do have the Koni strut housings. They are in sorry shape right now. I am in the middle of sourcing the parts I need to rebuild the front end. I can't seem to find much info on these inserts though.
Hi Tim - According to the catalog on the Koni website (www.koni-na.com) you would want part 86-1638 as you car is equiped with Koni housings. You can find these on www.shox.com.
