Refinished/Repaired Wheels for DEs?
Any experiences?
I called Wheel Collision Center in Bath Pa, and they told me a lot about the process. They apparently do no damage to the composition or integrity of the wheel in their repair process. This was tested by several sources over the past few years, including over 200 alloys by a local university. She tells me that they literally havn't found evidence even once of the metal being compomised by the process or any prior damage. They do carefully screen, though, and only fix repairable units. There are other places I think that do exactly the same work around the country...must be a new process like paintless dent repair.
They do not stock everything, though, as they appear to on their website. You go there and it's like being a kid in a candy store...16x8 Fuchs for $400 or so, completely refinished and re-anodized! Alas, it is too good to be true...8's and 9's are scarce for them. They do take special car to do the anodization process correctly, though,...they take a lot of pride in the Fuchs refinishing.
